Just want to rant about the inability of the NHL to recognize and resolve the ever present problem of intentional injury. The most recent example of this is the knee to knee assault by Chicago’s Martin Lapointe on Edmonton’s Ales Hemsky. It always seems to be the low paid grunt taking out the high paid talent, but the league, year after year, chooses to ignore it as entertainment. This is someone’s career, passion, and if nothing else a monetary investment of the team itself. I believe it’s time for the NHL to take charge and make an example of these players. Make it clear to the players that it will not be tolerated, and start suspending players indefinitely for undeniable intentional injuries. The video reviews are evidence enough. I may be biased as an Edmonton Oilers fan in this situation, but I don’t condone this play in any game. End Rant.
Cheers!
